Coach Jamal Valdez-Allen
Thirty years of teaching boxing in the Bay Area — from kids and first-timers to amateur champions and professional fighters.

About Jamal
Jamal Valdez-Allen is the Head Coach of Triple Threat Boxing and has spent 30 years coaching boxing at every level — beginners throwing their first jab, youth athletes, amateur champions, and professionals under the lights. He has prepared and cornered amateur fighters and works out of Lightning Boxing Club in Oakland, with mobile sessions across San Francisco and the East Bay.
Coaching philosophy
Jamal blends old-school craft with modern training structure. His approach comes down to a few principles:
- Fundamentals win. Balance, eyes, and a jab that controls the room.
- Safety first. Defense and clean mechanics before power. Sparring only when you're ready.
- Explain it plainly. Clear cues you can remember and repeat on your own.
- A plan that fits your life. Structure that works around your schedule, not the other way around.
- Respect. You should feel welcome the second you walk in.
Who he coaches
Beginners and busy professionals, kids and teens (8+), people training for fitness and stress relief, and committed amateurs preparing to compete.
